Owners of mobile phones in India have not got any relief despite several strict guidelines by the Telecom Regulator Authority of India (TRAI) restricting companies to make unwanted calls and send SMS to numbers that have even activated the DND (Do Not Disturb) facility.
The recent one that has come to light is from number +91-1246749600. The number displayed in receiver’s phone is of course from India and the STD area code +124 is of Gurgaon (Haryana state). But, looking at how hitech the criminals as well as marketing companies have gone, nothing can be said about the originating location of this call. It can be from anywhere in the world. And the authorities can’t also be blamed looking at the large volume of scams that are happening today. It is only us, who should be active and spread the awareness.
When the receiver picks the phone someone in South Asian accent asks to press one or two for different options. So, what the consumer at large is left with to just hang up the phone or get trapped in the unknown illicit motives of these criminals or may be companies.
