Nokia expecting to regain the lost ground by releasing budget touch screen phones under its Asha Series, which has had a huge success in markets like India
Finnish mobile phone major Nokia has unveiled three budget phones with touchscreen under Asha line of phones, which are expected to be able to compete with cheaper Android-smartphones, said a press release of the company.
According to analytical agencies, in the first quarter of this year, Nokia for the first time in fifteen years lost its leadership position in the mobile phone market – as South Korea’s Samsung has replaced it as the largest manufacturer in the industry. In the smartphone segment, which provide companies high margins, Nokia has been lagging behind competitors for a long time now.
The company has many expectations tied to Asha series, as the word in Hindi itself means “Hope”.
Now talking about specs, price and release date of new Asha “Smartphones”, the upcoming models have been named as Asha 305, 306 and 311. All three phones are equipped with 3 inch touch screens, as Asha 305 and Asha 306 will have WQVGA resistive screens, and model Asha 311 – QVGA capacitive screen.
