Walter Haefner, the richest survivor in the world, included in the Forbes’ list of billionaires, died in Switzerland at the age of 101 years, Bloomberg Businessweek reported on Wednesday .
The businessman died on June 19, but his death has been made public only now. Until the last day of his life, he regularly visted the he office of his company, located in Zurich.
As of March 2012, Hefner’s worth was estimated at 4.3 billion dollars. He was the largest shareholder of IT-company CA (formerly Computer Associates). In addition, his family owned car dealership network Automobil-und Motoren AG – the largest supplier of Volkswagen, Seat, Skoda and Audi cars in Switzerland.
After the death of Hefner, honorary title of being the “oldest billionaire” in the world is now being held by David Rockefeller, the grandson of famous American magnate John D. Rockefeller. As of today, his age is 96 years old and he is worth $2.5 billion.
